Call For Papers

Bharat Pravah - an Institute for Governance, Policies and Politics, New Delhi’s initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Shipping, Ports and Waterways, invites subject experts, research scholars and academicians to showcase their knowledge and present papers at a symposium to be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 25th May 2023.

Bharat Pravah aims to bring forth the significance of seas, rivers, ports and shipping to the social psyche of the people. It intends to highlight forgotten aspects of river and seas in culture, history, folk arts, and other prevalent forms of knowledge. For this purpose and to provide a platform to scholars and researchers to help in this endeavour, Bharat Pravah extends this call for papers on the following themes at Bhubaneswar:

1. Historical Perspectives on Coastal Communities and their Role in Shaping Society
2. The Role of Indian Ports in the Global Maritime Trade Network
3. Traditional Coastal and Riverine Knowledge: Relevance and Conservation Strategies in the Modern World
4. Coastal Architecture as a Reflection of its Maritime History
5. The Role of Folklore in Preserving Maritime History and Traditions
6. The Forgotten Maritime Culture of Coastal Communities

The above-mentioned themes remain the overarching themes for the conference but scholars are welcome to share new perspectives and bring forth new themes through their papers. The selected papers will be published in an edited volume after the events have concluded. The draft shall be submitted after 6 weeks from presentation which will require comments/feedback from presentation. This shall be open to all the universities.
